Felco 990 – Synthetic high-performance grease
Technical protection for mechanical components. Synthetic lithium complex-based grease specifically developed for lubricating garden shears, pruning shears, and wire rope shears. It reduces frictional resistance on moving parts and protects mechanical assemblies from premature wear.
That's why Felco 990 grease:
- Lithium complex base: Ensures high stability of the lubricating film even under mechanical stress.
- Ergonomics: The wide handle provides protection for the hand while sharpening the blades and ensures safe handling of the tool.
- Water-repellent: The grease displaces moisture and thus effectively protects against corrosion and rust formation inside the cutting head.
- Additional feature: An integrated bottle opener at the bottom of the handle complements the functional features.
- Adhesion: Due to its high viscosity, the lubricant remains at the lubrication points for a long time (e.g. between blade and counter blade as well as on the bolt).
- Application: Especially recommended for lubricating the grease nipples on Felco tools (e.g., Felco 7, 8, 13 and all cordless shears), also works on tools of other brands.
Material and handling
For optimal performance, the shears should be cleaned before applying Felco 990. The grease is applied sparingly to the friction surfaces or via the grease nipple. Regular lubrication ensures smooth operation of the spring mechanism and reduces the effort required for cutting.
This grease is designed for lubrication under high mechanical loads. Apply a small amount to the friction surfaces between the blades or directly into the grease nipple (if present). The grease permanently displaces water, ensuring long-lasting smooth operation that cannot be achieved with a spray alone.

Felco 990 differs from Felco 980 Spray in its consistency. While the spray is intended for quick cleaning and short-term lubrication, the 990 grease is designed for long-term lubrication of bolts and bearings.
